Product Description

Epifanes Classic Mahogany Stain and Varnish Tint Additive, 500ml (MHS.500) is a quick‑drying, impregnating wood stain designed to penetrate bare mahogany and other fine marine hardwoods. It provides a warm, rich reddish‑brown mahogany color with excellent depth and uniformity.

Ideal for restoring faded or patchy wood, Classic Mahogany Stain enhances natural grain without obscuring texture. Suitable for both interior and exterior use above the waterline, it is an excellent preparatory stain before applying Epifanes one‑ or two‑component varnishes.

Depending on the desired color depth, up to 3 coats may be applied. Each coat will continue to darken the wood. Recoatable after only 2 hours at 65°F.

Classic Mahogany Stain may also be added (maximum 10%) to Epifanes clear varnishes or epoxy resin to create a lightly tinted finish that camouflages color differences in existing systems.

Available in a 500ml container. Download the technical data sheet here.

BuyEpifanes Expert Notes

  • Classic Mahogany Stain is the preferred choice for achieving traditional warm mahogany tones. It produces rich color while preserving natural grain definition.
  • Fast recoating makes it ideal for multi‑coat color building. Three coats can be applied in a single day under ideal conditions.
  • Excellent compatibility with Epifanes varnish systems. Works flawlessly under Clear Gloss, Woodfinish Gloss/Matte, Rapidclear, Rapidcoat, and Poly‑urethane systems.
  • Perfect for blending repairs. Adding up to 10% stain to varnish or epoxy helps unify color differences in older brightwork.
  • Professional‑grade consistency. Applies evenly without blotching, streaking, or patchiness when applied with a lint‑free cloth or soft brush.
  • Ready for use. Do not thin — the formula is optimized for maximum penetration and color saturation.
  • Ideal for restoration and refinishing. Excellent for rejuvenating faded mahogany or enhancing new wood installations.
