Tips for Selecting an Epifanes Colored Paint System

All Epifanes paint systems will result in a beautiful finish but will vary in ease of application, resulting hardness, scratch resistance, gloss and color retention. Substrate, environmental conditions during application and the skill level of the applicator should be taken into account when choosing a paint system. Use the guidelines below to help you decide which is the best Epifanes pigmented paint system for your project.

Generally, Epfaines pigmented paints can be broken down into 1-Part and 2-Part systems.

1-Part Paints provide beautiful colored finishes, great coverage and are more forgiving for novice painters to apply. The best choice over most existing paints, wood and surfaces that need to flex and also great for wood that has been epoxied / glued, fiberglass (GRP), steel and aluminum. Generally, 1-Part paints may be applied over existing 1-Part and 2-Part paints.

2-Part Paints provide a harder, mar-resistant finish, a higher gloss level, deep depth of color and longer life span. Suitable for wood that has been epoxied / glued, fiberglass (GRP), steel and aluminum. Generally, not recommended directly over existing 1-Part paint systems (Epifanes Interimcoat may be suitable in some circumstances between 1-Part and 2-Part paints). Environmental factors and applicator painting skill level should be considered as working time is faster and paints are less forgiving to mistakes.
